Transport Types

Travomate Cargo supports a wide range of freight modes to cover both short-haul and international shipments.

Across every mode, a capacity provider can offer either spare space on a route they are already running, or a full free container they have available. The space-sharing model works both ways. See Offer Capacity for the two listing types.

Supported Modes

Container Sharing

Multiple shippers share space inside a single shipping container. Ideal for cargo volumes that do not fill a full container (see also LTL Freight).

A provider can list the spare CBM in a container they are already shipping, or make a full free container available on a lane for one or several shippers to fill.

Best for: SMEs, importers, exporters, and individuals with regular but modest cargo volumes.

Truck Sharing

Available truck space is shared between multiple cargo owners on the same route.

Best for: Domestic or regional shipments where cargo does not fill an entire truck.

LTL Freight

Less Than Truckload. Cargo is consolidated at a warehouse and forwarded with other shipments to the same destination.

Best for: Smaller parcels or pallets travelling on shared freight lanes.

FTL Freight

Full Truckload. A cargo owner books an entire truck exclusively for their shipment.

Best for: Large volumes, time-sensitive goods, or cargo that cannot be consolidated.

Air Cargo

Goods are shipped by air, typically via cargo airlines or available belly capacity on commercial flights.

Best for: High-value goods, perishables, or urgent shipments where speed outweighs cost.

Rail Freight

Goods move overland by rail, often over long intercontinental corridors (e.g. China to Europe).

Best for: Shipments where cost is lower priority than sea freight but speed is more important than air freight.

Sea Freight

Goods are shipped by ocean vessel, either as a full container (FCL) or consolidated with others (LCL).

Best for: High-volume, lower-urgency international shipments where cost is the primary concern.
